Outdoor Spring Wedding at Ranch at the Canyons
Happy 1 year Anniversary, Jake + Andrew! We were delighted to plan your outdoor spring wedding in Central Oregon and it’s so much fun to relive the day through photos by Victoria Carlson Photography. (Full vendor credits at the bottom of this page!)
We had the pleasure of working with this couple for almost 2 years. They loved the idea of embracing the landscapes in Central Oregon and bringing their friends up from San Francisco to celebrate! Jake and Andrew traveled to Bend to tour venues with us and ultimately decided on Ranch at the Canyons in Terrebonne. When it came to hiring our team, they loved our personalized approach to working with each couple and our small team that could support the vision. It’s the best feeling when you get the email that says, “LET’S DO THIS THING!!!!” and an excitement to trust our team with Full Service Planning.
As a LGBTQ couple planning a destination wedding, Jake and Andrew were focused on their budget so they could continue to save for growing their family. It was a fun puzzle to balance their priorities, guest list, and budget, and we ended up planning a delightfully balanced and thoughtful day that was still mindful of their budget.
Their wedding day was a beautiful spring morning but thunderstorms threatened in the forecast. Luckily their reception had a tent that easily protected all the guests from a huge downpour during dinner while the DJ played all rain-themed songs… Ironic by Alanis Morissette, Thunderstruck by ACDC, etc. The crowd was scream singing at the top of their lungs, it was an incredibly fun moment! Until, the lightning risk grew too dangerous to remain in the tent, so all the guests moved inside the small Stables building to continue mingling and have toasts until the storm let up. If rain on your wedding day is good luck, these two have enough good luck for a lifetime!
Jake and Andrew’s VIPs wore mixed shades of green and white, with guys and gals on both sides. Their colors included tangerine orange, green, and many shades of blue, which complemented the dramatic landscape of Smith Rock State Park beautifully. Some of the most unique touches included a violinist doing pop covers, a Dippin’ Dots truck, and a photo booth by VW Photo Bus. Of course their dogoos Pijper and Sadie were queens of the day with specialty cocktails in their honor. The rain made for an epic sunset while their crew danced the night away.
