Matea + Alex's Boho Woodland Wedding at Hollinshead Barn

Matea and Alex’s wedding at Hollinshead Barn was the boho woodland-inspired bash of dreams! The day flowed effortlessly and was such a sweet reunion of Matea and Alex’s favorite people. Picture all the good vibes of a mid-summer backyard gathering—but with a touch of elegance!

The couple is local to Bend, where Matea works as a middle school teacher and Alex works at Mt. Bachelor. While they first met in college, they reconnected and fell in love later in life. Another fun fact about these two is that they were guests at a wedding we planned in 2020! It’s always such a high compliment when a couple experiences an event we’ve put together and decides that they want our help for their wedding. What’s more, we’re now planning the 2023 wedding of Matea’s brother and his partner!

Intimate Outdoor Ceremony at Hollinshead Barn

From the beginning, Matea was elbows-deep in planning with us. In fact, she took on most of it herself while we ironed out the details to create a gorgeous and intimate backyard feel at a local venue, Hollinshead Barn. We love this unique venue for its location in the heart of Bend (in a public park!). Plus, it’s ideal for small and micro weddings! While a DIY venue like Hollinshead can pose its challenges in the absence of a planner, Matea and Alex had a top-notch vendor team. Everyone’s combined efforts brought their event together seamlessly…even when our lead coordinator Cherise had to intercept a remote-controlled car on its way into the ceremony! Rest assured, we always have our heads on a swivel to ensure that nothing interrupts your special moments.

The couple wanted to take advantage of the rustic backdrop of the barn for their ceremony. So, the couple designed an intimate gathering space featuring farm benches, with pampas grass arrangements by Woodland Floral lining either side of the aisle. At the head of the aisle, a hexagonal wooden arch framed the couple as they read their vows to one another. We know that boho lovers everywhere are going to be so inspired by this one!

We had so much fun getting to know Matea and Alex and helping them bring their vision to life. They’re some of the most down-to-earth and genuine people we’ve had the pleasure of working with—definitely the kind of Bend couple that we’d love to join to grab a beer or hit the slopes! We plan weddings for couples who love the PNW, want to get married here, and care about making their day feel like *them,* tradition be damned. Sound like you?
