Camping Chic Wedding at Lake Creek Lodge

The first sentence of Claire and Jon’s inquiry about their wedding at Lake Creek Lodge read, “We’re planning a camping-chic wedding for October 1st. Are you available?” We knew we were in for a treat! Although not officially part of our brand, camping-chic weddings are some of our favorites to plan. Like many of our couples, we love exploring the outdoors and soaking up the beauty of Central Oregon!

Claire and Jon inquired a year before their special day with nothing decided except their wedding date and venue. They chose Lake Creek Lodge in Camp Sherman since the family cabin nearby is a meaningful spot for both. We loved guiding them toward some of our favorite local vendors and excitedly awaited designing their day. Look no further for all the fall woodland wedding inspo you need!

Fall Wedding at Lake Creek Lodge

We dreamed up a fall color palette for Claire and Jon’s wedding design with peach, marigold, orange, and plum hues. Claire carried a showstopping bouquet from The Posie Shoppe, one of our go-to Bend florists, with peach dahlias, purple pincushion flowers, and orange ranunculus. We also loved the planter box centerpieces they created for the couple’s reception tablescapes, with a blend of peach and orange flowers accented with blue thistle.

We aimed for a simple but artful design for the table settings that left plenty of space for the most important thing: food! We left the long farm tables bare for a rustic look and added mustard linen napkins for a pop of color that complemented the floral centerpieces beautifully. Mustard signage details on each table coordinated with the couple’s seating chart, while amber votives added a finishing touch. The finished design was vibrant and cheerful, perfect for a camping-chic wedding!

Canoe Wedding Photos

At one point during the planning process, Claire expressed the desire to incorporate a canoe into her and Jon’s wedding day to represent their love of the outdoors. Their ceremony location at Lake Creek Lodge was also next to a pond, so it only made sense! Jon and I tried to dissuade her from getting IN the canoe after the ceremony, fearing her dress would get wet—or worse, that the boat would tip over! I brainstormed a few ideas for using the canoe as part of the décor or as a receptacle for drinks or gifts. However, Claire was determined to get in that canoe, and I’m so glad she felt that way! It became one of the day’s most unique, meaningful moments.

After exchanging their vows and greeting their loved ones, Claire and Jon (carefully!) got into the canoe for a quick, private spin around the pond. With only their photographer, Victoria Carlson, for company, they had the chance to chat and decompress before heading to their cocktail hour. It was a beautiful way for them to spend private time together. Not to mention it made for gorgeous photos!

Learn From Planning Pros

Claire and Jon really connected with our goal as planners to be teachers and coaches. “Planning a wedding is a huge undertaking,” the couple wrote in their testimonial, “and Emily was exactly the teacher and guide we needed. Her organizational skills are unmatched, and she kept us on track every step of the way without ever being pushy.” Our connection with them made planning their wedding at Lake Creek Lodge so fun and creatively fulfilling!
